When I first heard about the My Bikini Butt program, I started my usual routine of looking up all the My Bikini Butt reviews I could find, to try and work out what this product was really like.

I’ve learned one thing from reviewing a lot of different products out there on the market, and it’s that a lot of the time you can’t necessarily trust so-called ‘reviews’ online.  In this post I’d like to point out just some of the reasons why you might not be getting a proper picture of what things are really like from reading online reviews, and how to spot a genuine/real review from a fake/spammy one.

Why Product Reviews are So Important

As a consumer, I want to know that I’m getting value for money when I purchase things. I like to know exactly what I’m getting, and I base my purchasing decisions off feedback from others who know about the product and what their experiences were. Which is why reviews are so useful, and form the basis for a lot of my own opinion before I decide to part with my hard-earned cash!

knowledge

One thing that has started to annoy me are the number of ‘fake’ online reviews out there (for various products), which really don’t serve any purpose other than to try and make money off consumers through affiliate links.

Real ‘My Bikini Butt’ Reviews – In Short Supply!

I was recently searching for honest, genuine reviews of the My Bikini Butt system and really struggled to come across proper reviews! Instead of actual reviews by people who had tried and experienced the product, here are some of the things I found – and what you need to look out for whenever you are looking at product reviews of any kind.

Why Are There So Many Fake Reviews on the Internet?

People write reviews for products to tell others about their experience with that particular product. Often, there is no reward for taking the time to do this, however some might like to warn others against a particular product if they have had a particularly bad experience; or maybe even the other way around if they have experienced exceptional service or a great product!

Affiliates Have a Vested Interest

However, as consumers we need to be aware that some vendors offer rewards in exchange for good reviews – for example, many affiliate programs work this way (if people buy a particular product through a recommendation you have made, you receive a commission in return).  I know this because I participate in affiliate marketing myself. Usually this system is fine; as the consumer pays the same amount for the product, the vendor gets a sale they might otherwise not have had without the recommendation, and the affiliate gets a small commission in exchange for their recommendation.

The part where things get shady, is where affiliates begin to write false reviews and paint a product as overly desirable, just in order to get a sale through their link. As an ethical affiliate marketer, I make a point never to falsely review a product just in order to make a sale.

transparency

Unfortunately, many affiliates do write false reviews and will stop at nothing to make you click through and just buy through their link. This is why there are many fake/scam reviews out there for some products (particularly those that offer a commission reward to affiliates for any purchases made).

One important key is to be able to recognize what these kind of low-quality reviews look like, so you can protect yourself from buying a dud product.

What Low Quality Reviews Look Like

If the review is obviously trying to make you purchase through a link on its page, you may be looking at a false review.

One of the key indicators of a low quality review is that it doesn’t give you much real information on the product at all.

The review or article might have a title like “Is My Bikini Butt a Scam?“, but the actual content of the article does not even talk about or relate well to the title headline that you’ve just clicked on.

Other similar headlines that often reek of marketing and are usually designed just to make you click through (but generally offer little value once you read the article) are things like:

  • Before you buy My Bikini Butt, read this important fact! (then go on to tell you to buy the product within the article)
  • My Bikini Butt Review – Don’t Buy This Product! (but then tell you to buy the product within the article)
  • How I Got Scammed By My Bikini Butt! (but then tell you to buy the product within the article)

In a lot of cases, these are designed cleverly simply to make you click through on the headline, then purchase the product through an affiliate link once you are at the website.5 stars

Also look out for reviews which rate products as 10 out of 10, 5 stars, or top marks! These reviews also will tend to list ‘no cons’ or can’t find a single negative about the program or product they are reviewing. I’m not saying it is impossible for this to be true, but when I see things like this it immediately makes me a little skeptical.

What’s The Worst That Can Happen?

Well fortunately, not much. As I mentioned previously, affiliates do receive a commission if you make a purchase through their link, but you as a consumer would not pay any more than if you had purchased through a different affiliate’s link, or through no affiliate link at all.

The part that you do need to look out for though, is that often the reviews that you may be reading for products which offer affiliates a commission for promoting them, are often biased and written in such a way to encourage you to buy through their link supplied.

So How Do I Find Out What My Bikini Butt is Really Like?

Simple- find a website that you trust, or keep an eye out for trustworthy reviews that don’t show the signs of the low-quality reviews above. Try to stick with reviews where the reviewer has actually used or tried the product (you’d be surprised to know that many reviews are written without much knowledge of the product being reviewed at all!), or alternatively has really looked in-depth to research the product and what you can expect.

A lot of this comes down to general awareness. Knowing that reviewers may be biased and have an agenda to sell to you, should be taken into account when you read the review.

For anyone looking for a review of My Bikini Butt that has a bit more substance than most of the ones that I managed to find online, I did a bit of digging and wrote my own little honest synopsis of what the program is all about. You can find it here.

Conclusion

I hope this article has shed a bit more light on why there are so many dodgy reviews on the internet, and how to spot them. Unfortunately this is not just the case for a program like My Bikini Butt, but also many other online products which have affiliate programs attached to them.

You can take it from me that I am honest in all my reviews and really am interested in helping my readers find the right product for them, not just blindly trying to sell anything and everything to anyone who comes along. I sincerely hope that this comes through in my writing, because I try to make all my reviews as ethically as possible. My full affiliate disclosure is here if you’d like to read it.

Hey, nice write up. I’ve looked up a lot of reviews as well and you get a bit of a feel for it when you have seen so many. I get particularly annoyed when I read “bla bla is a scam” then they go on to say buy it.

Another very obvious one is that many of the reviews will say the same thing, like it’s the same person writing for different sites.

I don’t think it’s bad if someone hasn’t used the product, as long as they state that. I sometimes review products that I may not have used, but bought from the same company a different product before and give my opinion on how I expect it to be and how it was for the other one I used.

Keep your reviews coming, they’re great!

Thanks Vince, agree with you totally. I was getting fed up of wanting to know more about a program or product, and not getting anything particularly valuable from any so-called ‘review’ source. Cheers!

Apparently My Bikini Butt is a scam company. They charged my card on two occasions for a product that never came. My bank verified no one will answer the phone when you try to resolve it so I’m having to cancel the card and have another issued to keep it from happening again. Sad, my first on line scam, and what an unneeded headache.

Hi Kelly, thanks for the input and warning to others about your experience. It really is unfair that this kind of thing can happen online, and I really would like to help consumers protect against this 100%. I will point out that the My Bikini Butt is a digital product though, so nothing will actually be sent to your physical address – the entire program is all available online.

It’s interesting that you say your card got charged several times. I believe the My Bikini Butt company processes their payments through clickbank (a very large and reputable online company), so I would definitely try to follow this up through them – I think they offer their own 60 day guarantee on all products through their network. If you did not get charged through clickbank, I would suspect that you may have fallen victim to something like an imitation My Bikini Butt company which may prey on the product’s potential customers through a fake/imitation/scam website.

I also had some dealings with My Bikini Butt’s customer support, as I like to check responsiveness of these companies as part of my review process. They did respond in a timely fashion and very positively – even when I indicated that I would like a refund on the product (as a test only – I had not purchased at this stage).

I did have problems finding contact details for their support team, but in my experience I found the company to be genuine and did not have any of the same problems that you seem to have had. You might want to try emailing: support(at)mybikinibutt.com , I was able to get through to someone at that email address and hopefully it’s not too late for you to receive your refund if you were unhappy with the product.

I hope this helps you, and please feel free to email me if I can be of any assistance with helping you recover your lost funds. I’m very sorry to hear that you’ve been put through this hassle with your cards, and that you don’t have to go through anything like this again.
      Best, Jolie.

I really love this article. I agree with you 100 percent. I get it that affiliates want to make money, but with these types of scammy reviews, they don’t give people a real perspective.

I think the reviewer should let the consumer decide if they want to purchase the product or not. Lots of times consumers will purchase a product that the reviewer didn’t like. Maybe the consumer was looking for a particular item about the product. You just never know. Thanks for putting this out there. 🙂
