I’m a sucker for food, and while I like to think I’m generally pretty good at keeping myself in check, sometimes my inner glutton just likes to make an appearance *thinks sheepishly about last night’s impromptu visit to the drive-thru at  Mickey-D’s*.

Not to dwell on the mistakes of the past, my frequent cravings for food is why an online cookbook that I stumbled upon called Flavilicious Cooking caught my eye. This book claims you can lose weight by eating (gasp)! While the concept may be unheard of or even foreign to some, it was enough for me to want to check it out, and I’ve since put together this Flavilicious Cooking review so that you can share in the deliciousness that this book has to offer.

Flavilicious Cooking: Product Overview

Flavilicious Cooking is an online downloadable cookbook (pdf format) that is based on healthy, wholefood options. It was previously named Skinnylicious Cooking.

With a catchphrase of ‘Eat More to Lose More’ and packed with 150 mouth-watering recipes, the recipes in this book are designed to help you lose weight, balance hormones and generally fuel your body with natural, wholesome food.

Did I mention there’s no such thing as Calorie counting in this book? It makes eating to lose weight even simpler.

Lose Weight By Eating?

This book claims you can lose weight by eating the right kind of foods, and in the right kind of way.

No, you won’t be Calorie counting or following a strict, complicated meal plan – instead you simply need to follow a few principles that will help you to be more in-tune with your body and health, and those extra pounds will all but look after themselves.

The basis of this book is:

  • Eat flavilicious recipes, but only when you are hungry
  • Eat until you are satisfied, and no more than that! (This is the part where you learn to say goodbye to your inner glutton)
  • Eat real, natural, whole foods – the Flavilicious Cooking recipes make this easy!

Sadly, the average American’s diet is so far removed from the above that we literally eat ourselves into a state of disease and ill-health. Flavilicious recipes are derived from natural and wholesome foods, and eating in this fashion again will show in terms of how your body both looks and feels.

Just check out the author’s amazing transformation before and after eating Flavilicious-style:

About the Author
Flavia Del Monte
Flavia and her daughter Milia

Flavilicious Cooking has been written by Flavia Del Monte, a registered nurse, certified personal trainer, self-taught nutritional enthusiast, and mom.

Flavia has worked closely with professional chef Amy Stoddart and natural food blogger Hollie Jeakins of simplywholefoods.com to compose this amazing cookbook, full of recipes that she herself used to drop her stubborn ‘skinny-fat’, revitalize her energy levels and start living life to the maximum.

The Good and the Bad

The Good
  • Beautifully presented – each recipe is accompanied by a full-color photograph so it’s easy to pick what you fancy

Fish lettuce boats

  • Hyperlinked Table of Contents make the book a breeze to browse
  • No complicated Calorie-counting, stingy portion control, or strict meal plans
  • Amazing amount of bonuses and huge value for money
  • Huge variety of recipes, most gluten and grain free, and all labelled accordingly

Food labels

The Bad
  • Some ingredients may be considered somewhat ‘exotic’ by some (but there is a rundown of all these in the introduction so you’re not left in the dark). Either way you may need to go to the grocery store to stock up!
  • Real food costs more than processed junk, unfortunately
  • Currently not available as a physical product

Who Is Flavilicious Cooking For?

Anyone who is not happy with their diet, struggles to know how to create exciting, healthy meals, or just wants to feel energized again should definitely check out this cookbook. Oh, and if you like cooking and are interested in your personal health, I think you will absolutely love this book (I know I did!).

Flavilicious Cooking is a recipe book for those who are interested in eating healthy, without sacrificing taste. You won’t find processed sugars, artificial sweeteners, soy, MSG, wheat or gluten in this book.

Recipe Preparation Times

While most of the meals in the recipe book are vary greatly in preparation and cooking time from as little as 1-2 minutes for a dip or dressing, to 10 minutes – 1 hour for snacks/appetizers, to between 15 minutes – several hours for main meals.

If you’re rushed for time, the bonus material “15 meals in 50 minutes” will be well worth your time. This fantastic video and recipe guide was prepared by Flavia in conjunction with professional chef Amy Stoddart and really capitalizes on using the same ingredients in many ways for maximum efficiency and to really save time.

Set aside just one hour on one of the days of the week and you can have multiple meals prepped for the days ahead – fantastic, in my opinion!

Recipes Types

There are 150 delicious recipes in Flavilicious Cooking that will have you surprising guests and family members for a long time. Breakfasts, Mains, Sides, Deserts and more are all covered.Table of Contents

I particularly like the Dressings & Sauces section, as commercially available dressings are both expensive and can hide a lot of hidden nasties such as preservatives and colorings. Making your own is an excellent alternative!

As mentioned previously, each recipe is tagged with Flavia’s easy-to-read labeling system and hyperlinked to allow you to jump to that particular page at the click of a button.

Desserts
No refined sugar in any of these desserts – they are truly a healthy alternative!
The Recipes Themselves

food-14-long

Fantastic. There is such a massive variety of recipes in this book, and the part I love the most is that you can pick any one of them and know that it’s a healthy option (yes, this even applies to the desserts!).

Flavilicious Cooking Support

Since you get lifetime membership to Flavia’s community, there is excellent support if you have any questions about the book or any of the bonus products.

Price

Flavilicious Cooking retails for $27 which is absolutely great value for money in my opinion, plus it comes with a 60 day money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied.

Upsells

There are not many upsells in the book, just some recommendations to Flavia’s preferred protein powders and some supplements in the 3-Step Skinny Solution Guide. I didn’t feel like she was pushing any product, which is refreshing.

My Final Opinion of the Flavilicious Cooking Recipe Book

I loved this product. It so totally is in line with my idea of healthy eating and I am fully supportive of it’s simplistic approach to creating wholesome food. If you like what you’ve seen so far, please do consider this product. It’s definitely highly recommended by me!

As I absolutely do not like counting calories, I immediately love the Skinnylicious cookbook! I believe you can eat to lose weight, you just have to know what you are doing. Many dieters think you have to starve yourself to shed the pounds, but I’ve actually learned the opposite works for me. It is just a matter of paring the right foods with each other that trip me up. 🙂 You can’t beat the price for what you get in this cookbook and I’m thinking I shall be ordering. Thanks so much!

I agree with a lot I read in this article, many people assume they’re eating healthily when in fact they’re not. Looking at the recipes here, everything is natural and wholesome.

You have covered every aspect of this book on a straight forward, easy to understand way. Hopefully people will listen, as food is 90% the cause of weight problems, not just in the US either.

This is interesting. I am in a desperate need of new cooking recipes but lately I eliminated meat out of my diet because I feel much better not eating it. My body inflammation went down and I don’t feel bloated any more.

I started eating mostly vegetarian and vegan foods but I am not very strict on keeping it either or…

Are there enough vegetarian and vegan recipes in this book to make it worth it for me to buy it?

    Best,
    Marko

      Hi Marko,

Great to hear about your cutting down animal products, I’ve heard that many people can get a very noticeable improvement in health if they do this the right way and plan their diet effectively.

This book could definitely be your new best friend when it comes to getting some recipe ideas. The breakfast, salads/soups, sides and dessert sections all have heaps of veg-friendly recipe ideas – I did a rough count for the vegetarian or vegan recipes and you’re looking at around 33 side dish recipes, 18 soups/salads, about 17 breakfast recipes, and 21 desserts.

Unfortunately the mains are a bit light for vegetarian/vegan recipes though; with only about 5 veg-friendly mains out of the 40 total in this section, and they’re not all that spectacular.

So it really depends what you are looking for – some of the salads and sides are definitely good enough to be used in combination for daily meals, but if you’re really just looking for one-pot main meals this recipe book will leave you a little lacking.

      Hope this helps!

      Jolie

Hello Jolie, I was looking to get a read on some review on health and dieting. I was initially put off by the sound of it. I said to myself that this site was for women, and that it would have to pass.
My mistake was that I stayed a tad to long on your site. It is simple to navigate and mine you communicate naturally.
Well, concerning Skinnylicious cooking, I think I like the idea that I do not have to starve to get skinny but rather, I could keep eating to get skinny. I think the price is fair and I got nothing to loose, its got a 60 day guarantee.

Thanks Emmanuel, glad to hear that you enjoyed the site! I do try and make it relevant for everyone – getting a better butt is not just for women (although it is common for women to have this goal more than men!).

Skinnylicious cooking has been renamed Flavilicious Cooking recently, but the recipes and content are still the same. It’s definitely worth checking out if you are not one for traditional dieting, as there’s heaps of great meals in here that won’t make you fat!

Thanks for sharing this article. It’s great that flavilicious is downloadable cookbook. Since most things are online these days, it’s just a convenient way to access some amazing recipes.
I love food. I know that not all foods are good for you. But I sometimes have those cravings for bad foods like chocolate and chips. I would like to eat more healthy foods though.
It’s good to know that you can still eat and lose weight! 🙂

Definitely Teresa! I also have those pesky cravings sometimes, so it’s great to have healthy ‘bad food’ options. A perfect example: I gave in to cravings and made some chocolate mousse yesterday, but luckily it was a healthy version with no added sugar, so I don’t have to feel as guilty about splurging!
