So you’ve decided you want a better butt, made a firm resolution and are already picturing the beautifully shaped behind that you’re going to have. But wait.. what about if you home workouts for glutesdon’t have or can’t afford a gym membership? Never fear, because I have been busy for the past few weeks doing some research for you, to find the best home workouts for glutes.

In this article you’ll learn why home workouts are popular (and why they are my favorite), how you can build a better butt from home, and what workouts you can have a crack at that will get you the best-booty results that I know you are after. Here’s to forgetting about the gym!

What are Home Workouts?

A home workout is as simple as the name implies – it’s exercise that you can do at home. Of course you aren’t restricted to your own home though – you can do these out in the park, in a hotel room, at a gym (if you must), at a friends place…  in my experience, the term ‘home workout’ simply implies that the workout can be completed with minimal equipment required.

Home Workouts are Becoming More Popular

Okay, I must admit, I jumped on the home workout bandwagon back in junior high.

I’d program the home VHS recorder to auto-record the early morning Aerobics which aired at some ungodly hour in the morning, then set my alarm for a slightly less ungodly hour and thump around in the lounge room with the TV on minimum volume trying not to wake up Mom and Dad.

So, you can see that I’ve been a fan of the old home workout routine since a young lass. And I love it! Let’s look at just some of the benefits:

  • Minimal effort to get to and from a place to workout (simply just get off your butt) – so you can forget all those usual excuses!
  • Less time required to workout, since travel times are non-existent.
  • Don’t need to worry about making yourself look presentable to work out in public (hey, I frequently work out in my pyjamas if I want, how’s that for comfort?)
  • It’s cheap – often no specialist equipment required.
  • Don’t need to worry about how other’s perceive you, because you’re in the privacy of your own home.
  • Can get great results!

Building a Better Butt From Home

Alright, so now that I’ve sold you on working out at home, let’s move on to what you really came here for – how to really hit the butt and work those glutes with home workouts.

If you want to build a better butt, you simply must work out the glutes. However, it’s worth noting that a lot of home workout programs are mostly whole-body or fat burning workouts, which are great for whole-body toning and general fitness, but may not meet your specific butt-beautifying requirements.

Never fear my friends, as I have been busily working away the past few weeks and slowly exercising my way through a host of home workouts that are more focused on the glutes and butt than your standard home workout program.

So, here is a list of some home workout programs that I have found so far that have a nice focus on working out the glutes and butt:

Home Workouts That Target the Glutes

Jump on the Home Workout Wagon!

…It’s a great way to build better glutes! Don’t think that just because you’re not at the gym that you won’t get sore. During the past few weeks where I have been trialing all of these programs and workouts, my glutes have constantly had that after-workout soreness that you know means results are not far behind.

I’ve tried to list those workouts that I have found that pay a little bit more attention to working out the glutes and butt than your standard home workout program might. body

Not only do these programs workout the glutes though, but most also pay some attention to the rest of the body, so you can be sure you’re getting a great workout for general health and fitness which will keep your whole body looking good (bikini body anyone?). Why not try some out and see how you like them?

I intend on posting the results of my trials in the future to list the best home workouts for the glutes that I have found, so stay tuned for that post!

Have you come across any home workouts which are great for the glutes? Let me know if I’m missing any, as I’m keen to try them all!

Nope, the butt is a muscle and muscles can be made larger – it just requires a little bit of hard work and focus, and the right exercises. Good luck!

Thank you for compiling such an awesome list of workout programs. Some I have already heard of and others I’m not so familiar with. I do prefer to workout from home, hate sharing gym equipment and have lots of training equipment that I’ve brought over the years to allow me to perform most exercises in the house.

Hi Charlene, thanks for your comment! I’m also a much bigger fan of working out at home, though gym workouts do have their place too in my opinion. Let me know if you come across any other home workout programs that work the butt and I’ll be sure to add them to the list!

    Hey Jolie,
I hate going to the gym after three kids, it just doesn’t seem flattering. This is a great list of workouts you have here, and I’d love a good guide to a smaller firmer butt! The symulast method looks really promising for me as I don’t have a lot of time to focus on my glutes.

Hi Sheena, you could try the 7-day butt challenge that I’ve posted before if you’re looking for a quick challenge, or otherwise the 30 day butt lift program is another great at-home program that can be done in around 10-30 minutes a day at home. Symulast is also great if you are looking to help reduce cellulite, but is more of an all-over lower body program rather than glute-specific. I really like it though because it’s low-intensity yet very effective. Happy to answer any other questions that you might have – and I’ll see if I can put together a guide for a smaller butt in the near future!

I love to workout from home. I have kinds of workout machines here from treadmill, chairbikes, etc. Instead of enrolling in a gym, I bought these exercise and fitness machines so that my parents can also use these. By having a proper exercise and fit body, diseases can be prevented such as heart attack and stroke.

Exercise is very much underrated by a lot of people, but even just a little each day can do wonders for your health (plus make you feel fantastic both mentally as well as physically!). That’s awesome that you’ve got a bit of a home gym set up there Keye, it can definitely work out cheaper than a gym membership if you are dedicated to using the equipment – plus like you’ve said, you can share it with other family members or friends!

lol this is a funny site. It is very important though. There is nothing better then strong and attractive legs. So many people men and women neglect there legs and it is a shame. Besides the physical look, the physical use of our legs is vey underrated by many people. Nice site and great workout.

Agree, no more skipping leg day! And make sure that said leg day has enough glute-focused exercises included!

Interesting article – am I right in thinking that the glutes are the muscles near the top of your legs?
Anyway, I was looking for a little advice on exercises that center more around the waist area…yes the dreaded gut! I’m trying my best to get rid of that 2 inch fold that won’t shift – it’s not bad but I could do with getting rid all the same. Exercises?

Great information, thanks. Personally, I’ve never gone to the gym to work out. My dad has always kept everything one needs to workout at home — weights, benches, etc. For me, going to the gym is a waste of money with practically no advantages, unless I’m looking to socialize which may not be a good idea when I’m supposed to be focusing on my workout.

That’s awesome Paul, loving having a home gym setup- my old housemate used to have all the gear and that was a perfect luxury, but the place I’m living now is a little light on for equipment.

That’s probably a pretty accurate take on going to the gym for some people! I have found in some cases it can make me work out harder than I would normally at home though (maybe because I know there’s people around who may be watching?)

In my experience both situations can be good, depending on my mood at the time!

    Hi Jolene,
This was a great read. Easy style on a very informative subject. Nothing like a good butt. I need to go to a gym to workout rather than do it at home.
Here where I live in Asia, we have indoor and outdoor gyms that are very well equipped.
The research you have done on this is very good and I liked the links to the various workouts that are available. One small thing, the pics didn’t load when I went on to your pages during my cruise around. But that may have been my browser.
    Regards,
    Duncan

Thanks Duncan, I agree, there is nothing like a good butt, lol! Outdoor gyms, that’s interesting. We don’t have that many here, but I think it’s a great idea as I love being outdoors. Combining exercise (and not just plain old running) with that would be awesome. Thank you also for the heads up about the image issue, I’ll take a look into it.
