Butt Bible Overview

The Butt Bible is a home workout program created by Pauline Nordin designed for building an award winning butt through a combination of bodyweight and weighted leg and glute exercises.

The program consists of two different types of workouts: lower body and upper body. For each type of workout, there are 3 levels, which makes for 6 different workout videos.

The level 1 workouts are the shortest at just 20 minutes each. Level 2 workouts will take you 30 minutes to complete and the level 3 workouts step it up again for a 40 minute session.

About the Author

Pauline Nordin is a Swedish fitness model, personal trainer and bodybuilder and generally one bad-ass super fit babe!

Featured as a personal trainer in the Nordic version of  the TV program ‘Biggest Loser’ in 2006, her training methods led to a win for her pupil. She is now based in America where she runs her website Figher Diet, and contributes to top bodybuilding website bodybuilding.com.

Pauline is hands-down one of the main reasons why I love this workout DVD set. This girl has personality and attitude, and is constantly chattering away throughout the workouts, egging you on or just giving helpful tips and making jokes about butt-building.

I like how she goes on about wanting the perfect ‘award winning’ butt, how she calls her butt “Mr. Glute” and the back-and-forth imaginary conversations they have when those butt exercises start to burn. It’s a nice distraction for when the workout starts to hurt!

Some of my favorite lines:

I love the butt. I have an obsession with the butt. I’ve been working out for more than a decade and I always wanted that nice perky behind, that you can just get from good training. That’s why I created this Butt Bible. And now I wanna show you! Everyone should have a good butt. It’s like a human right!

The squat is the one best moves that makes the butt become nice and round, instead of flat and pruney and dry, like a raisin.

When you have a pair of nice glutes, you feel like you own the world!
Yeah, you might be broke, you’re a student with no money, but if you have a nice piece of ass – you got everything.

Oh, did I mention that she has this tough-talking Swedish accent and comes out with all the little grammar mistakes that come along with english being a second language? To me it makes her dialog even more hilarious and entertaining!

The Good and the Bad

The Good

  • This workout is tough. How is that good? Because it gets you results.
  • Workout at home with minimal equipment required. (But you will need a ‘great bad ass attitude’!)
  • Specifically designed to get you a better butt, and upper body gets an epic work out too.
  • Never gets boring with the constant commentary from Pauline, she is an EXCELLENT trainer!

The Bad

  • Some people dislike the constant chatter from Pauline. (Personally, I enjoyed this aspect a lot and it made me push harder through the workout!)
  • Butt Bible Workout plan and diet plan no longer available at the link provided (but I’ve posted the workout plan below).
  • Some reports on Amazon of the DVDs failing to play after several uses.

Who Is ‘The Butt Bible’ For?

Pauline created this program specifically for women who want to get a great butt, but really this DVD product is for anyone who:

  • Wants a better butt
  • Likes to work out at home
  • Enjoys being encouraged while working out
  • Has a sense of humor

This workout is highly reviewed by many, and after doing it myself I have to agree with everyone – it’s an awesome program!

One thing to note is that the Butt Bible DVD program is actually a discontinued product, which means that it’s not available anymore from Pauline’s official fighter-diet website.

Amazon does print the Exercise TV Butt Bible DVDs on demand when you order though, so you can still get this DVD set! I think this is much better (and cheaper too) than the Butt Bible product offered on the fighter-diet website. For some reason they’ve changed it back to just a digital ebook product, which I don’t find as effective as a follow-along exercise DVD.

One downside of the reproduction DVDs is that a few people have reported that the DVDs stop playing after a while – if you’re worried, I’d recommend burning a backup copy when you first get these so you won’t get caught out.

The Moves

Here’s an example of some moves you’ll see in the The Butt Bible:

Some of these exercises (or a close variation of them) are also featured in our Best Butt Exercises index, so I have linked these above – be sure to check them out!

Upper body workout moves involve bodyweight exercises like pushups, tricep dips and dumbbell exercises like bicep curls, tricep raises and shoulder press – enough to put me out of action for a few days while my arms tried to recover!

Sequencing

A lot of the moves are done in sets of 3, which really made this workout effective for me.

I also found that the different levels worked great as a step-up progression over the 6-week program.

The Butt Bible workout plan is not available on the Exercise TV link provided anymore, but here is the schedule:

2 weeks each of level 1, 2 or 3 workouts – you’ll work out 4 days a week with rest days or cardio workouts of your choice, and alternating upper and lower body workouts each day.

Week One & Two:

Day 1: Level One Lower Body Workout, 20 minutes
Day 2: Level One Upper Body Workout, 20 minutes
Day 3: Rest or cardio workout of your choice
Day 4: Level One Lower Body Workout, 20 minutes
Day 5: Level One Upper Body Workout 20 minutes
Day 6: Rest or cardio workout
Day 7: Off

The program is the same for the next two levels— in weeks three and four you do Level Two, and weeks five and six you do Level Three. The Level Three workouts are 30 minutes each and the Level Four ones are 40 minutes each.

Week Three & Four:

Day 1: Level Two Lower Body Workout, 30 minutes
Day 2: Level Two Upper Body Workout, 30 minutes
Day 3: Rest or cardio workout of your choice
Day 4: Level Two Lower Body Workout, 30 minutes
Day 5: Level Two Upper Body Workout 30 minutes
Day 6: Rest or cardio workout
Day 7: Off

Week Five & Six:

Day 1: Level Three Lower Body Workout, 40 minutes
Day 2: Level Three Upper Body Workout, 40 minutes
Day 3: Rest or cardio workout of your choice
Day 4: Level Three Lower Body Workout, 40 minutes
Day 5: Level Three Upper Body Workout 40 minutes
Day 6: Rest or cardio workout
Day 7: Off

Even though it’s “The Butt Bible,” you are actually getting a complete, full-body workout program. And it only requires you to work out four days a week, which for me was very do-able. Weights (I suggest 5 to 10 pounds, depending on your fitness level) are used in the upper body workouts, and in the last level they also use a bar, but since I don’t have one I just used my weights or a broomstick and that worked out fine.

Equipment

The Butt Bible is an at-home workout, but it does require a little bit of exercise equipment. Don’t let that put you off, because the equipment required is minimal and all of it is great to have around the house and can be used for many different exercises.

Pauline will get you to use the following in The Butt Bible:

Also, once you get more advanced, feel free to add your own ankle weights or exercise bands to make these moves even more challenging and keep getting results.

Effectiveness: Does The Butt Bible Really Work?

I found this workout to be super effective. Wanna build muscle and a killer toned butt? This program will do it for you.

I am basing this off my incredibly sore (but the good kind of sore) body after just a few days on this program. Don’t let the name fool you though, while this workout series is absolutely fantastic for the butt, it will work your upper body and arms too!

My arms were out of action for a few days after doing the Upper Body Workout Level 2 – so much good pain!

My Final Opinion of The Butt Bible

Loved it! The workout is tops, and Pauline is all about getting you the results. For the price, this program is a steal. Highly recommended!

Hey Jolie, this is a great review of the Butt Bible! I’m baffled that it would be discontinued, but at least we can still get the DVD. Now I’m curious to hear Pauline’s chatter lol. Maybe she can distract me from my own thoughts and keep me motivated. Anyway, this sounds like an awesome workout. Nice to know it doesn’t require much in the way of equipment too! I’ll be back to read more of your reviews. This site is great. Cat

Hi Cat, thanks for stopping by and your kind words. I also am not sure why they discontinued the video workout and just replaced it with an ebook (now the official product). Personally I much prefer having something to follow along to, otherwise I tend to slack off. This one is definitely a recommendation from me though!

      Hi There
Unfortunately I have not been able to get a copy of the meal plan either, as my copy is quite recent and the link was not available to me either. I’ll do a bit of digging, and if I manage to find anything out, I’ll be sure to let you know!
