Cellulite on thighsCellulite is one of the most common complaints women have when it comes to their butt and thighs. If these unsightly bumps are causing an eyesore in the midst what would otherwise be great looking legs and a sexy butt, then the use of home cellulite massagers are one way that you can proactively take the situation into your own hands and banish that cellulite for good!

Although stubborn, the good news is that cellulite can be reduced in appearance, even to the point where it is not visible at all.

Massage Reduces the Appearance of Cellulite

Regular massage is a proven way to reduce the appearance of cellulite (study). This is great news for anyone who has ever been afflicted with this horrible uneven cottage-cheese bumpiness, and wished it would just go away.

In today’s market of over-saturated, hyped-up, anti-cellulite gimmicks, it’s ironic that simple massage and tissue manipulation is one of the most effective ways to reduce and get rid of cellulite, and it can be free too.

Even simply manipulating your problem areas with your fingers to give yourself a self-massage for about 15 minutes a day can yield great results when it comes to diminishing the appearance of cellulite, especially for women who most commonly see cellulite appear on the backs of the thighs and butt.

Professional Massage Can Be Expensive

If you’re lucky you may have had the luxury of receiving a professional massage treatment at a spa or beauty salon that was aimed at targeting stubborn cellulite.

While these are absolutely great and can be both relaxing and effective, regular massage treatments at a spa can be expensive and quickly add up in price. Unfortunately, when it comes to massage as a cellulite treatment, it requires consistency in order to show results. You will therefore need to undergo multiple, ongoing treatments in order to continue to reap the benefits of smooth, cellulite-free thighs and hips.

An alternative option is to turn to options for cellulite massage that can be performed in the comfort and privacy of your own home, for no ongoing cost other than some initial equipment.

Home Cellulite Massagers

Cellulite massagers that you can use at home range from cheap roller massage units to more expensive units which incorporate suction and mechanical rollers.

Both can be effective, and it is a matter of personal preference as to which you may prefer to use.

Manual Rollers and Massagers

Manual cellulite rollers require no power and are simple devices that often contain either rollers or soft nubs to create a frictional massage to the skin and lower tissues. These are maneuvered by hand and require the user to exert the desired amount of pressure by pressing harder with the roller or massage brush.

The benefits of these massagers is that they are often cheap, easy to use, portable, silent to use, and effective.

A few products that you will find fulfill all these criteria are listed below.

Massage Glove For Cellulite

This funky looking massage mitt has metal rollers which work wonders to maximize blood flow to your skin while helping to smooth out bumps.  The amount of positive feedback on this product is a true testament that it does definitely improve the appearance of cellulite.

The best part about the product is that the rotating spheres roll across your skin to reduce any friction, and you can vary the pressure of the massage by adjusting how firmly you push with your hand. To add to the experience, massage nodules work into reflexology points in the palm of your hand while you massage.

Ultra Portable Handheld Massager

If you’re after simplicity and portability, a product similar to this hand massager is the way to go. Silent and effective, you can bring this with you anywhere if you travel often, due to its small size.

This one is compact enough to even fit in your handbag, and is made of metal, so it won’t break like some of the cheaper plastic massagers can.

Cellulite Manual Rollers

I had a plastic roller similar to this one previously, but unfortunately, it ended up breaking when I got a little too enthusiastic on the backs of my thighs one day – so be wary of cheaper products!

Fascia Massagers

If you’ve heard of the Fascia Blaster product by Ashley Black, you may have also heard that many women find it quite effective for treating cellulite. The only unfortunate thing about the Fascia Blaster is the price – it seems quite high for what it is. For those on a bit more of a budget, the good news is that there are cheaper similar products out there which you can try at a fraction of the cost.

Handheld Massager with Cellulite Cupping Kit

Another practice which has become popular recently is cupping for cellulite. A kit like this one lets you try cupping along with a hand cellulite massager.

Machine Rollers and Massagers

If the thought of constant work pressing a manual massage device against your skin is too tiring, then there is also the option of using a machine roller or massage device.

These wired plug-pack powered systems are designed for at-home use, and contain a vacuum as well as mechanical rollers that will do all the hard massage work for you. You simply need to pass the device over your skin, which means no more pushing and pressing to create that extra pressure for the massage.

The Verseo Roller Cell 2 is one of the cheaper powered devices that can be used for at-home cellulite treatment, but looks like it may have been discontinued recently.

Options available now seem to range from low priced to fairly expensive; so do your research before you buy.

Glo910 Clinically Proven Massager

This one’s definitely interesting. Designed and patented in Europe, this specialized cellulite remover claims to improve cellulite with an investment of just 10 minutes a day. The 910 version has just one roller, but the premium Glo910+ model includes 4 rollers and infrared emitters so cellulite won’t stand a chance.

Sculptor Body Massager

The Sculptor body massager is a product featured on TV shows, and while the reviews tend to have mixed opinions on whether or not it works for cellulite, if you wouldn’t mind a massager machine, it may be worth a try.

Cost of a Spa Treatment Vs an At-Home Massager Option?

While some cellulite massage equipment for use at-home can seem expensive, it is worthwhile to consider the cost of this versus the alternative of professional spa or salon massage treatments.

A good quality at-home cellulite massaging machine can set you back up around $200 or more, but compare this one-time cost to the cost of just one professional cellulite massage treatment which can be anywhere from $50-100, and you can quickly begin to see the value – provided you take the time to use it!

A home cellulite massager also has the added benefit of being able to be used time and time again, so you get a lot more bang for your buck.

Massage is a Great Cellulite-Fighting Tool

Self-massage is an excellent and effective method for reducing and getting rid of unsightly cellulite, though you need to be aware that consistency is the key to success with this type of treatment. Establish a good cellulite massage routine, and you will see results.

Not only is massage for cellulite effective, but it can also be cheap if you elect to invest in an at-home cellulite massager, whether it be manual or machine-assisted/mechanical.

You save money by purchasing a massage tool that can be used to treat cellulite in the comfort and privacy of your own home, when compared to expensive salon cellulite treatments which require multiple and ongoing visits.

I would highly recommend getting yourself some kind of cellulite massager for use at home. I have recently been using a manual cellulite roller with great results (and it costs me nothing to keep using it), so I can’t recommend these enough!

Unfortunately my cellulite is genetic. But I never knew that massage helped reduce the appearance. I’ll have to convince my husband that I have another reason to get regular massages! Thanks for such a great post.

Genetic as well as environmental factors combined determine our physical traits, including cellulite. While a proportion of your cellulite might be attributed to genetics, there will also be a portion that is due to environmental factors (like lifestyle, diet, exercise etc) as well.

This is good news because it means there is always something you can do to improve on the way your cellulite looks – massage is just one great way to do so. I like your idea of using this as leverage to get more massages – good one!
